A single-side isometric hold that challenges the obliques to resist sideways collapse of the spine.

How to do a Side Plank

  1. Lie on one side with your elbow under your shoulder and legs stacked.
  2. Press through your forearm and outer foot to lift your hips off the floor.
  3. Form a straight line from head to feet and reach your top arm to the ceiling.
  4. Keep your abs braced and hips high without rolling forward or back.
  5. Hold for the interval, then switch to the other side.
