A kneeling hip abduction that lifts one bent leg out to the side to target the outer glutes and hip stability.

How to do a Fire Hydrant

  1. Begin on all fours with hands under shoulders and knees under hips.
  2. Brace your core and keep your back flat.
  3. Keeping the knee bent, lift one leg out to the side.
  4. Raise until your thigh is roughly parallel to the floor.
  5. Keep your hips square and avoid leaning to the opposite side.
  6. Lower with control and repeat, then switch legs.
