Good Morning

Legs Beginner

A hip-hinge bend that strengthens the hamstrings, glutes, and lower back while grooving a safe hinge pattern.

How to do a Good Morning

  1. Stand with feet hip-width apart, hands behind your head.
  2. Soften your knees and brace your core.
  3. Push your hips back and hinge your torso forward.
  4. Keep your back flat and chest proud as you fold.
  5. Lower until you feel a hamstring stretch, torso near parallel.
  6. Drive your hips forward to return upright.

Keep in mind

Common mistakes

Breathing

Breathe in as you hinge forward, out as you stand up.

Take care

Unloaded, this is a good way to learn the hinge — but stop at once if you feel a pinch rather than a stretch.
