Pull-Up

Upper body Advanced

An overhand-grip hanging pull that builds serious back and lat strength, the benchmark of upper-body pulling power.

How to do a Pull-Up

  1. Grip the bar with palms facing away, hands slightly wider than shoulders.
  2. Hang with arms straight, then set your shoulders down and back.
  3. Pull your elbows down and drive your chest toward the bar until your chin clears it.
  4. Lower yourself slowly until your arms are fully straight.
  5. Avoid swinging or kipping, keeping the movement strict.
