How to do a Man Maker
- Start in a plank gripping a dumbbell in each hand under your shoulders.
- Perform a push-up, keeping your body in a straight line.
- Row the right dumbbell to your ribs, lower it, then row the left.
- Jump the feet forward and stand up, curling the dumbbells to your shoulders in a clean.
- Press both dumbbells overhead, then lower them and return to the plank to repeat.
Keep in mind
- Set the dumbbells directly under your shoulders so the plank is stable.
- Row one arm at a time with the hips level — no rotating.
- Widen the feet to make the rows easier to stabilise.
- Finish the clean and press standing tall with the ribs down.
Common mistakes
- The hips twisting on each row — widen your feet and slow the row down.
- Round dumbbells rolling under your hands — use hex weights, or put them down.
- Rushing the clean and yanking with the lower back — hinge and use the hips.
Breathing
Breathe out on each row and on the press, in between the parts.
Take care
The most complex move in the catalog and the easiest to do badly when tired — use a light pair and end the set as soon as the plank starts twisting.
